After a very productive week of work last week, Team Gunga Galunga is looking to keep the ball rolling. Last week consisted of translating different material we have gathered from the Ministry of Agriculture from Spanish to English. It was not the most exciting task but it needed to be done in order to further understand everything we are doing.

Our main goal for this week is to know the top regional and national products inside and out. By Friday morning we are expecting to have detailed explanations on the following:

1) Top 5 products produced in each individual providence, especially Kalu Yala’s.

2) Top 10 national products produced.

3) Average prices from the last 3 years for each one.

This is also the first week that team Esuper and team Gunga Galunga are going to be working together. Team Esuper, which is in charge of the Kalu Yala’s agricultural field work, will be providing us with the specific products that can be grown in the valley; this will allow us to focus our research in those primary products.

This is a very exiting week; our research will be the first step to open our very own organic farm in Kalu Yala! Keep checking us out, we have two REALLY cool blog posts coming, and you do not want to miss them.

Is Kalu Yala going to produce only what is currently being produced in Panama? I know that Panama imports way too much agricultural products right now than they should, but I feel a large variety of products that arent currently being produced in Panama would thrive here, giving the community the ability to cut down on imports as well as boost the export side.
