Biography - Hannah Hurricane Willingham

In 2010 Hannah graduated from the University of Florida with a Bachelors of Science in Wildlife Ecology and Conservation. She set out to gain an understanding of conservation issues from different perspectives by beginning her Master's in Urban and Regional Planning at the University of Florida in January 2011. Since August 2009 she has focused on specializing in applications of GIS (Geographic Information Systems) and GIS research projects. She has worked on topics such as wildlife occurrences, local food deserts, national childhood obesity, and state-wide emergency management. GIS incorporates her love of planning, science and design. Currently, Hannah has taken a hiatus from her university environment and is seeking an education outside of the traditional setting. In September 2011 she spent two months focusing on sustainability, leadership, and community projects while traveling in Thailand, Laos, Vietnam, and Cambodia. Continuing her multidisciplinary approach to education, Hannah has signed onto the Kalu Yala 2012 team. Hannah is excited and curious about the Kalu Yala mission, believing the experience will give her invaluable insight and a comprehension of how to fuse many fields and backgrounds.
