We have a habit of thinking that the deepest insights, the most mystical and spiritual insights, are somehow less ordinary than most things – that they are extraordinary. This is only the shallow refuge of the person who does not yet know what he is doing. —Christopher Alexander
Synthetic finance is more dangerous than synthetic oil.
As CEO at Kalu Yala, I feel it is my obligation to try and encourage our team and the community that has formed around us to always first look for the ideal and to then identify what stands in the way of reaching it. A marketing major who grew up in a corporate real estate household, much of my former training was in finding what already was and then in figuring out how to sell that as being the ideal. Similarly, Kalu Yala started as the result of the market analysis our team had performed, but has since evolved to become a symbol of everything we believe is possible from the human spirit. At this point, Kalu Yala seems to have become inevitable, but I hope that by ceaselessly continuing to uncover all the potential it holds, I can contribute even more to the proof that there is a better way for the world to build, invest and live.
