Biography - Kari Remmen

Kari will be graduating from the University of North Dakota with a Liberal Arts degree and Environmental Studies Emphasis in 2012. After that he plans to attend graduate school. Kari has cultivated her love for renewable energy and activism by being a member of the Environmental Conservation Organization (ECO) at the UND campus. During trips to Washington D.C. she has participated in protests for a coal-free renewable energy powered capitol and to end the war in Iraq (Drop Beats, not Bombs!). After spending time volunteering and traveling in Costa Rica, Kari couldn’t wait to make it back to Central America. Kari believes that Kalu Yala has the potential to set the precedent for comfortable sustainable living across the globe and is very excited to help develop the food resources for such a village. She hopes to take the knowledge and experience gained in Panama back to the U.S. Her most passionate goal is to help move America towards a more organic, ecological food system.
