Kelsey Montgomery grew up in the blue crab state of Maryland and is now pursuing a career in environmental health science at the University of Georgia. Following a spring break trip to Guatemala, Kelsey discovered her love for Central American culture. Both her enthusiasm for new adventures and her strong appreciation for nature bring her to Kalu Yala this summer, where she will be studying the biodiversity in the valley in search of ways to develop a community that can safely coincide with all surrounding wildlife. A completely sustainable community is a novel idea, and she hopes to apply what she learns from Kalu Yala to other communities. Kelsey feels privileged to have such a great educational opportunity and looks forward to spending the summer with other environment enthusiasts.
