Biography - Zac Long

Zac Long is a future 2012 graduate at Ohio University with a major in Outdoor Reacreation and Education and a minor in Art. His passions lie within the outdoors and he hopes to one day incorporate the arts into the outdoors. 2011 was a big year for Zac as he took many larger steps within his field and his comfort zone. Zac completed an outdoor leadershihp course which provided extensive knowledge on Leave No Trace as well as backcountry travel as he spent a month backpacking and sea kayaking through West Virginia and South Carolina. His completion of a coastal kayak instructor course has made him a certified member of the American Canoe Asossiation and a level 3 coastal kayak instructor. His time working with Outdoor Pursuits at Ohio University as well as his education have allowed him to begin the next chapter of his life as a recreation provider. When he is not in the outdoors you may find him soaking in the sounds of his favorite music or playing the bass with his fellow local musicians. Zac was attracted to Kalu Yala because of their commitment to sustainable design as well as their persistence to create a community that exists in unison with the surrounding environment. Zac Long looks forward to a fresh experience, meeting new people and being apart of something that can better the environment we live in.
