A lot has been going on with Team Gunga Galunga since our last blog update.

Every day brings a new challenge in our research, so it’s been hard to stick to our pre-planned weekly agendas. We find ourselves collecting whatever information we are able to locate, get our hands on and understand, rather than taking on one subject at a time. All of this while keeping our end goals in mind.

Whether we’re analyzing local agriculture laws or meeting with local organic producers, each day brings new information to our attention. Recently, we’ve met with several contacts who are helping us with our research in organics and agriculture production in the area around Kalu Yala.

Carlos, a local from San Miguel (the town closest to Kalu Yala) with an extensive background in agriculture, has provided us with his knowledge of local producers, consumers, locally grown products, as well statistical data on importing that will be beneficial to our final report.

We’ve exchanged emails with several organic farmers in the area in attempt to gain more knowledge on organic production and distribution to local markets. It’s important for us to research who our everyday customers will be once Kalu Yala’s farms are up and running.

Like I said, the data we are trying to locate isn’t always as easy to find as we previously thought it would be. We know the gist of what we need for our final report, but making sure we have all of it by our presentation is going to be tough.

One month until Gunga Galunga’s Presentation Day. We’ve learned a lot but we still have a lot more ground to cover.

Stay tuned.
