The First Founders

The First Founders will be the initial twenty people who choose to believe and invest in Kalu Yala. In return for their decision to take Kalu Yala’s biggest step toward becoming a reality, they will also have the most initial influence over what our community will become. In 2012, the 20 First Founders will come to Panama for a five day multidisciplinary workshop that will define the Founders Village.

  1. Hello Mimi, Emily, and the rest of teh Kalu Yala family,

I am a fellow expat of Panama who started a non-profit focused on educational initiatives for the Bahia Honda community of Bocas del Toro, Panama. This Ngobe community is the center for the educational programs of my organization and currently include a preschool, summer camp/after-school program, and adult english classes. I would be happy discussing how we can collaborate our resources on working together in Panama. If you happen to want a vacation/reason to come to Bocas please feel free to get in touch with me and I would be able to show you around the islands and have you lend some of your expertise to the programs I have in place. My door is always opened for new creative minds as running the preschool and other programs can always new some new energy. I can be reached via email at neil@giveandsurf.org or phone 507-6465-9485, the website for my non-profit is giveandsurf.org.

  2. Hello Neil,
Thank you so much for the kind words and support. Our team would love to explore ways of partnering to support similar projects with aims to improve education and community. We have recently welcomed a new Director of Community Outreach and Education in San Miguel. Her name is Erin Keigher and her email is Keighererin@gmail.com . I will pass your information along to her and hope to see you sometime in bocas!!
