Every morning I, along with many other caffeine addicts in San Miguel, start my day with a strong cup of coffee. Or 3. There are those quiet mornings that involve reading by the river, preparing a few last minute activities for English class, or walking down the street for a quick breakfast at the fonda (fried eggs and hojaldres will change your life). But other days, we wake with the sun- or the roosters- and make things happen.

Living in a community of doers is energizing and exciting, and hiking with them from our front door to the top of a mountain is almost as good as a solid cup of coffee. (Starbucks- pretend like I never said this..) Working with our friends on a neighboring hill, Kalu Yala has connected an internet router to a rechargeable battery that is being set up to bring the internet to our beautiful valley for the very first time.
