This weekend I had the pleasure of traveling with Erin Keigher to Utiva, Costa Rica for Envision Music Festival. What an experience! On my first journey out of the country (my Kalu Yala experience), I got to go out of the country for a second time! Envision Festival was one of the most magical, amazing, and inspiring places I have ever been.
Traveling over borders on a bus was a brand new experience for me. Never could I ever have imagined how long this process would take! We had to go through inspections and proper steps not only exiting Panama, but entering Costa Rica. This was also my first experience being in a vehicle for more than 5 hours. The total time for this trip was about 13 hours. Lots of firsts for me on this trip! Once we dealt with all the technicalities we literally had to walk over the border to Costa Rica to meet the bus on the other side, pretty strange, but exciting!
The festival’s underlying theme was beauty, individuality, and sustainability. All of the stages and installations were made of natural material such as bamboo, leaves, and wood that was found on site. Water supply was limited as not to waste natural resources and all food vendors had organic, natural food. The whole experience was really inspiring to me to embrace my inner weirdness and live a more natural lifestyle. There were many workshops and seminars at Envision, discussing healthy relationships, healthy lifestyles, and the importance of sustainable development for the future to preserve our natural environments!
