THE FOUR TYPES OF FOUNDING CITIZENS
The secret to Kalu Yala’s sustainability is the commitment to a single vision from a diverse community of believers. Even though plans to break ground on construction are for January of 2013, our global community already exists. The first investors who believed in the vision of Kalu Yala, some of the most experienced visionaries in the world, current interns and alumni of the intern program, and thousands of regular website visitors have already founded Kalu Yala and started to make it a real community.
Now, its time to finalize designs, begin construction, open businesses and welcome our first visitors and residents.
Here’s who we are looking for to help make that happen:
Global Citizens
Kalu Yala is the first community to be developed with 100% transparency in all that we do. Why? Because we are genuinely seeking the best answers to every problem and opportunity we face. This means everyone must have access to those problems and opportunities, along with the current proposals for addressing them. Thank you internet! Are you a renewable energy expert, student, or professor? Do you have a passion for architecture or locally owned businesses? Then Kalu Yala needs you to use our website to provide your critique and hold us accountable so that we can be the best that we can.
Young Homeowners
New towns used to be the expectation of every civilization as it expanded, from the Mayans to the Romans, and the United States as it moved west. Now, towns are disappearing as everyone is forced into megacities and the only “new towns” are resorts. We need young energy and ideas to make Kalu Yala real. To make sure this happens, our architects placed 20 special cottages in the middle of town. These are reserved for people under 35 and we are offering a unique opportunity to make sure we get the best 20 owners possible. We will rent your cottage from you once you build it, while still letting you use it 4 months out of the year.
Business Owners
What kinds of businesses work in a cow field that is becoming a town? Lots of them! We already have economic opportunities from construction, agriculture, tourism, and servicing a budding population. Inns, hostels, farms and agricultural products, and outdoor guide services are just a few of the business opportunities that make sense now. While most small business owners have to go it alone, business owners at Kalu Yala are immediately part of a community and company fighting for their success. Entrepreneurs, we want to talk to you.
The First Founders
Investors risk hard earned capital to gain reward from their decision to believe in what the world wants. The revolutionary business model that underwrites Kalu Yala has been specifically designed to attempt to reduce this risk, while still providing attractive returns. Our First Founders are not only investors, they are property owners and critical members of our community. The first 20 investors will work with over a dozen of some of the world’s most experienced and visionary real estate, environmental, and economic experts to custom design the village that will change the world.
