{wednesday january 23rd. approximately way too early in the morning and not nearly enough sleep.}

sitting outside on a balcony, watching the sunrise over panama city, feeling blessed to be here.
these clouds here fascinate me, both their volume and their speed
just last night they were stationary
painted on the sky – a quilt of tiny tufts
(among the unwelcome absence of stars)
yet at this moment
in the early and honest light of dawn
a thick mass of condensation rolls gently, swiftly along, telling me a story
of the tradewinds and the irrelevance of time
though i can’t yet understand
i hear the noises of a city arising from its uneasy slumber
the sun illuminates
reflecting crystal pink
and a fresh, bright orange across the vastness of sky
