Privacy Policy
While our admissions process and hospitality services may collect personally-identifiable information when you visit to help us better serve you, we will never share your information with any third parties except with written consent.
Secure Payment
Further, know that your payment information is always safe. Our payment processor uses Transport Layer Security (TLS) protocol, an industry standard and among the best software available today for secure commerce transactions. It encrypts all of your personal information, including credit card number, name, and address, so that it cannot be read over the internet.
Admission and Cancellation Policies
Our Institute considers the use of every tuition dollar paid extremely seriously. We apply those resources directly to program supplies, room and board, our highly-qualified instructors and support staff, and student engagement efforts to create the highest return on investment for our program participants. After 20 semesters and as our past students agree, we deliver a uniquely-differentiated, hands-on educational experience that exceeds expectations when completed.
Due to the variety of costs associated with recruiting, interviewing, and admitting the most deserving students possible to our program, we require a nonrefundable $750 deposit submitted upon program acceptance to reserve your spot. Your $750 deposit is then applied toward the total cost of tuition and fees for the program.
When it comes to paying your tuition balance, we have two options: First, you can pay-in-full within 60 days of your acceptance. Second, we also accept standardized payment plans that divide your balance due evenly across the amount of months prior to your program. If you choose this second option, you must make your first payment within within 60 days of your acceptance. If a full or partial balance payment is not received within within 60 days of your acceptance, this may be considered a cancellation, and you risk losing your place in our program.
Late Payment Fees
As prompt payment is vital to Kalu Yala’s ability to effectively plan and ensure our program’s continued excellent quality, Kalu Yala reserves the right to assess Late Payment fees. Failure to meet payment timing expectations either per our written policy or mutually agreed-to will result in a $25 per day past-due penalty. The total fee will be added to the remaining tuition due and payment-in-full expected to resolve tuition owed.
Cancellation Fees
If you cancel your enrollment before your program starts, the following penalties apply according to when you cancel:
• 89-75 days = $750 nonrefundable deposit penalty only
• 74-60 days = $750 nonrefundable deposit and 25% remaining tuition penalty
• 59-45 days = $750 nonrefundable deposit and 50% remaining tuition penalty
• 44-0 days = No refund
If you leave early during your program for any of the below reasons, the following penalties apply:
• Expulsion = No refund eligibility
• Voluntary Early Departure (lack of motivation, personal decision to leave) = No refund eligibility
• Involuntary Early Departure (injury, illness, family emergency, etc.) = Eligibility for partial refund through refund request process
Early Departures
PROGRAM EXPULSIONS
When a student violates our code of conduct and student agreement causing program removal, Kalu Yala leadership will process an expulsion. If expelled, the student may be subject to an additional Early Departure Fee to cover the expense of accompanying and transporting the student from our program location. This will vary depending upon the circumstances of early departure.
VOLUNTARY EARLY DEPARTURES
Some students may choose to leave their program due lack of motivation or by their own personal decision. We will do our best to make this process as smooth as possible. We will not be able to provide you with a refund or a credit. We strongly recommend that you purchase travel insurance to cover these scenarios.
INVOLUNTARY EARLY DEPARTURES
If you are forced to depart early due to family emergencies, medical conditions, or other unforeseen circumstances, a student will be eligible for a partial refund pending review by our refund process. If confirmed, you must provide appropriate documentation of the event for our records and agree to our refund timeline. We again strongly recommend that you purchase travel insurance to cover these scenarios.
Refund Payment Processing Policies
All refunds will be provided as a credit to the credit card used at the time of purchase within thirty (90) business days upon approval of refund amount less penalties. If you have made payment via a method other than credit, our finance team will work individually to process accordingly
Travel Insurance
Kalu Yala recommends that you investigate travel insurance policies offered by a third party such as Travelex: travelexinsurance.com. Travel insurance differs from company to company and policy to policy. Make sure to research your options carefully.
