This past Wednesday from 3:00pm – 5:00pm en La Cancha we held our first “taller” of a series of workshops that will focus on art, theatre and storytelling. The first taller was encuadernación – book making. We were joined by the kids from the school in San Miguel and two compas from INAC (Instituto Nacional de Cultura).
To introduce the workshop I had prepared seven styles of books and a poster-board talking about each one. I went through each style of book and passed around a model. After that we had each person choose a style they wanted to make and we split into groups. While I was busy running around searching for our only hole-puncher and juggling three groups, Andrea documented the action. For me, documentation is a very important aspect. It is storytelling; the telling of our own stories, so I definitely appreciated Andrea’s help. Plus, she’s an amazing photographer. Myra, Blaire, Mimi and Alci were also a huge help in making the taller a success. They each lead a book making group and made sure I felt supported.
Below are photos from the day.
