This week was the last week for classes and after school programs in San Miguel. A bittersweet ending to such a great semester with my adult English class and the kids in my soccer club. What a great experience it was for me to watch the adults learn English, bring me extra worksheets they had practiced with at home, and show a general eagerness and willingness to learn; so rewarding. One of my students told me that her and her daughter practice together nightly and correct each other. It’s a great feeling to know that my hard work makes a direct impact on the lives of the students in my class and the kids in my soccer club.
Wednesday night we bid farewell to our beloved Pollo Blanco, the white chicken we’ve come to love over the semester in San Miguel. She was getting to big, so we decided to put her to use and made a yummy Sancocho dish. Another bitersweet ending this week!
The end of the week this week in San Miguel, I felt a special connection with the community and people. So many friendly faces and great memories we have made, it’s going to be hard to say goodbye!
